Brunel's Bridge in Maidenhead was designed by Isambard Kingdom Brunel and built in 1838. It is made up of two arches with the right arch known as the Sounding Arch because of the incredible echo that can be heard there. Where is it? The Sounding Arch is close to the Maidenhead Bridge. You can walk along the tow path and then under the Sounding Arch. Try out the amazing echo when you're standing underneath! Bachelor's Acre is a small park located a little way from the tourist bustle in the centre of Windsor. It has quite a large children's play area and a number of other things to see. What will I find there? There is a variety of different play equipment aimed at 3-8 year olds in the playground. We really enjoyed walking at Braywick Nature Reserve in Maidenhead, it makes a lovely family walk. You can park for free in the car park on Hibbert Road which takes you directly into the Formal Park area. There are some beautiful trees and benches dotted around and open green space to enjoy. I recently went for a walk and visit to The Nature Discovery Centre in Thatcham and have to say I was really impressed with the Wildlife Trusts site. I went mid-week, during term time and met my parents for a social distanced walk and picnic. The weather was a mixture of sunshine and showers which was kind to us during our picnic. When we went for a walk at Simon’s Wood we also discovered Finchampstead Ridges on the map, so decided to go walking at Finchampstead Ridges on a separate occasion, as we noticed there were several ‘vantage points’ identified on the map and were keen to go and check out the view.
