AD – Gifted // Review – Children’s Afternoon Tea at Robyn’s Nest Cafe, Warfield

AD - this is a collaborative post. We were gifted the Afternoon Teas. As many of you will know who have followed this blog for a while, I am a bit of a fan of Robyn’s Nest Cafe at Moss End Garden Village, not only does the cafe serve great food, it’s child and dog friendly plus there is a corner in the cafe with toys ready to help entertain the little ones. I was delighted when Robyn invited us down as a family for Afternoon Tea during half term, especially to check out the amazing new Children’s Afternoon Tea, themed with either unicorns or dinosaurs. We had the unicorn afternoon tea, it was so generous in size and well presented and my eldest describes it as a ‘treat tower’, giving the experience a 'wow' and '10/10'. The three plates of indulgence plus a play at the cafe

AD – Gifted Tickets // Review – Maidenhead Mini-Golf

We were delighted to be invited to Maidenhead Mini-Golf to have a go on their brand new 18 hole, dinosaur themed, mini-golf course and were thrilled it was dry and sunny after a very wet week! It was a perfect way to enjoy a Friday Half Term afternoon. We received a very warm welcome, were given size appropriate golf clubs and picked a different coloured ball each, had a quick safety briefing and headed out onto the course. The mini-golf course was busy which was great to see, but the rounds flowed nicely with us only having to wait for the family on the hole in front of us to finish their go. The mini-golf was well thought out with different challenges and obstacles at each hole, on one you had to cross water and there were a couple that involved tunnels and bridges to get the ...

AD – Gifted Tickets // Review – Concertini & The Brass Funkeys

Berkshire Mummies were invited by Conertini, to attend one of their concerts and we picked to go to their New Year show with The Brass Funkeys and I have to say it was a really positive and upbeat way to start a Sunday morning at the beginning of January, so thanks for having us Conertini. I took my eldest with me and we will definitely be booking tickets to another one of your concerts in the not too distant future. The Brass Funkeys were an 8 piece brass band, they were fantastic with the audience, educating us about their different instruments, the sounds they made and the different families of instruments they came from. The Brass Funkeys ‘took us to’ New Orleans where we experienced a Mardi Gras. During the concert their was singing, clicking, toe tapping and dancing and it was su

AD – Gifted Tickets // Review – Rush UK, High Wycombe

Thank you to Rush UK, High Wycombe for inviting us down to come and have a go on the trampolines and also the soft play, we had a lovely morning playing. What we got up to during our visit First of all we went to the toddler session (for children 4 and under) on the trampolines which was between 9am - 10.30am, the session was great as there was loads to do and it wasn’t too busy and all the children were supervised by an adult. Before the session started we signed a waiver (you can read and sign this on their website before attending), were given 'trampolining' socks and a safety briefing. We had full access to the park (although the High Performance Area, the Rush Wipeout and Adrenaline Rush Assault Course weren’t in ‘play’ due to the height restrictions). But we did plenty of bo

AD – Gifted Meal // Review – Veganuary at Bill’s, Bracknell

Thanks to Bill's for inviting us to their Bracknell restaurant in The Lexicon to try out their Veganuary menu. As a family we have discussed the idea of becoming vegans and don’t believe we could cut out meat and dairy completely from our diets, however we have decided we would like to eat a few more plant based dishes throughout the week. So visiting Bill’s to try out their Veganuary menu was a great way to kick start this off for us. Since The Lexicon in Bracknell opened we have enjoyed eating at the restaurant so it was great to be back.  My husband and I went and enjoyed the meal at Bill’s and took our baby along with us. The service was great and the food was extremely tasty. We tried a drink each from the Low and No Drinks Menu, I had a Pear and Ginger Cooler and my husband

AD // Gifted for Review – Beat That!

Thank you Gutter Games Ltd for gifting Berkshire Mummies Beat That! to review. We love a board game over the festive period and can’t wait to play this throughout the holidays. The game appealed as there is a chance to challenge yourself in ways that you might not necessarily do in everyday life. The game tests your understanding of your confidence levels verses your actual competence to achieve the set challenge. Who can play Beat That! The game is aimed at 11+ year olds. We don’t have children this age so played the games as a ‘date night’ whilst the little ones were in bed. However, we have since allowed our eldest to have a go at some of the challenges for fun, outside of the game setting with our help. Please note the box states the game is not suitable to anyone under 36 mon

AD – Press Trip // The Royal County of Berkshire Show

As a family we attend The Royal County of Berkshire Show annually and this year were lucky enough to be invited as press. The show runs for two days and this year we went on the Sunday. Unfortunately upon arrival there was a torrential down pour that lasted over an hour and we started the day a bit wet but luckily the sun decided to shine for the rest of the day and we had a lovely dry afternoon at the show. The first attraction we went to see (in the terrible weather) was the ‘Grass to Glass’ Tractor pageant in the main arena. It was great to see such a diverse range of machinery on display. After that we went to look at the show animals. There were pigs, goats, chickens, ducks, sheep, cows, llamas and more. It’s always lovely to see the different breeds and watch some of the

AD – Gifted // Henley Literary Festival 2019

It has been great to be gifted tickets to Henley Literary Festival again this year. The first event I went to was on the evening of the opening Saturday where I watched authors Sarah Turner, The Unmumsy Mum and Matt Coney, Dad vs Baby being interviewed by Steph Douglas, mother of three and founder of Don’t Buy Her Flowers. The evenings interview discussed the authors experiences of parenthood and was full of honesty and laughter. I have followed The Unmumsy Mum for a long time on Instagram and it was great to see her talk in person. The session concluded with a Q&A and after the event finished I bought myself Sarah Turner's new book ‘The Unmumsy Mum A-Z - An Inexpert Guide to Parenting’ in the Festival Hub.  Then in the morning we headed back to Henley-on-Thames to tak

AD – Review // Giggling Squid, Windsor

Berkshire Mummies was delighted to be invited to try out the Giggling Squid in Windsor. It was a chance for us to review the Giggling Squid’s biggest menu change to date after visiting the Wokingham restaurant back in 2018. Our meal at the Wokingham restaurant was incredible so we were excited to be invited back. We went to the Windsor restaurant early evening, mid week and were given the chance to pick our table, the restaurant is set over a number of levels with floral decor throughout, it’s a beautiful environment next to Windsor Castle. Whilst we were perusing the menu we enjoyed some prawn crackers, which we believe are always a must at the Giggling Squid! For our eldest (our youngest is a babe in arms) we selected two dishes from the Little Tapas for Little People menu, these

AD – Review // SUUM Vietnamese Kitchen, Marlow

Having never eaten Vietnamese food, being invited to SUUM Vietnamese Kitchen in Marlow to try out their new menu seemed like a great opportunity for our family - we enjoy and actively encourage eating new and different flavoured food.  Upon arrival we were so warmly welcomed by the staff and owners of the independently run restaurant which can be found in Anglers Court at the top of Marlow High Street.  We ate early evening in the restaurant and started with a drink whilst perusing the menu. One of the drinks we tried was a mocktail, it was delicious and fruity with a real kick of spice at the end of each sip.  The children’s menu gave a great selection and is priced at £6.85 for two courses (starter and main) plus a juice or milk and ice cream can be added for
