A visit to Bracknell Market

If Bracknell Market is on when we are at The Lexicon we will often stop and purchase some fresh fruit, generally strawberries because we can’t resist the look of them when we walk past! The fruit stall always looks so appealing and there is always a great selection of fruit and vegetables on offer. The market is set up outside Princess Square and has a range of traders including bakery items, meats, fresh cut flowers and more. There are also catering vans set up so you can buy a range of cuisines including Indian, Jamaican, Italian and more. There is a posted on the Bracknell Market Facebook page which tells you which suppliers will be a the market on which date. The market is open on Friday’s and Saturday’s 9am-4pm and Sunday’s 12noon-4pm. We also enjoy visit

AD – Gifted // Review – Children’s Afternoon Tea at Robyn’s Nest Cafe, Warfield

AD - this is a collaborative post. We were gifted the Afternoon Teas. As many of you will know who have followed this blog for a while, I am a bit of a fan of Robyn’s Nest Cafe at Moss End Garden Village, not only does the cafe serve great food, it’s child and dog friendly plus there is a corner in the cafe with toys ready to help entertain the little ones. I was delighted when Robyn invited us down as a family for Afternoon Tea during half term, especially to check out the amazing new Children’s Afternoon Tea, themed with either unicorns or dinosaurs. We had the unicorn afternoon tea, it was so generous in size and well presented and my eldest describes it as a ‘treat tower’, giving the experience a 'wow' and '10/10'. The three plates of indulgence plus a play at the cafe

A visit to Holme Grange Craft Village, Wokingham

Holme Grange Craft Village based in Wokingham, Berkshire is made up of a range of independent retailers. We have visited the craft village before to go to Brickies Club. The shops are all set in converted barns and include Pottery Pals, The Sweet Cabin, Handmade Craft Company, children's wear shop This Little Piggy and Sewisfaction who alongside selling fabric run a number of creative craft classes for both children and adults. We haven’t eaten there yet but have heard great things about the craft villages cafe; The Grange Chocolate Cafe. Holme Grange Craft Village also offer a range of activities for families during school holidays, previously they have included face painting, pony rides, reptile handling and more. Fletchers Greengrocers at Ashridge Manor Garden Centre, Wokingham

Whilst visiting Ashridge Manor Garden Centre, The Farm Cafe for brunch we then had a look around some of the independent retailers shops. One of the shops we visited was Fletchers Greengrocers. The shop was brilliant with a great selection of fresh fruit and vegetables as well as a good selection of Field Fare frozen food produce. You could buy all sorts in the shop including flour, bread, chutneys, yoghurt and more. The shop was almost like a Farm Shop with a passion for fruit and vegetables.  Upon looking up the shop after our visit I learnt they are 4th generation greengrocers, originally based in Peach Street, Wokingham from 1949. The service was brilliant and we had a real laugh whilst in the store. During our visit we purchased some delicious fresh fruit, some Field F...

AD – Review // Giggling Squid, Windsor

Berkshire Mummies was delighted to be invited to try out the Giggling Squid in Windsor. It was a chance for us to review the Giggling Squid’s biggest menu change to date after visiting the Wokingham restaurant back in 2018. Our meal at the Wokingham restaurant was incredible so we were excited to be invited back. We went to the Windsor restaurant early evening, mid week and were given the chance to pick our table, the restaurant is set over a number of levels with floral decor throughout, it’s a beautiful environment next to Windsor Castle. Whilst we were perusing the menu we enjoyed some prawn crackers, which we believe are always a must at the Giggling Squid! For our eldest (our youngest is a babe in arms) we selected two dishes from the Little Tapas for Little People menu, these

AD – Review // SUUM Vietnamese Kitchen, Marlow

Having never eaten Vietnamese food, being invited to SUUM Vietnamese Kitchen in Marlow to try out their new menu seemed like a great opportunity for our family - we enjoy and actively encourage eating new and different flavoured food.  Upon arrival we were so warmly welcomed by the staff and owners of the independently run restaurant which can be found in Anglers Court at the top of Marlow High Street.  We ate early evening in the restaurant and started with a drink whilst perusing the menu. One of the drinks we tried was a mocktail, it was delicious and fruity with a real kick of spice at the end of each sip.  The children’s menu gave a great selection and is priced at £6.85 for two courses (starter and main) plus a juice or milk and ice cream can be added for

Windsor Farmers’ Market

Windsor Farmers’ Market takes place on the 1st Saturday of the month, 9am - 1pm and we decided to visit on Saturday 2nd March 2019 for the first time. There were about 16 stall holders selling a range of food and drink plus a petting farm and candle stall by Sunningdale Candle Co when we visited the market. It was lovely talking to the stall holders and sample their offering. We tasted pies, cheese from, honey and curry sauce whilst going around the stalls and we came away with two pots of Yogi Mamas Indian Curry Sauce which we paid full price for, and ate a tub of that evening as a chicken curry and it was delicious. We found it particularly interesting talking to the lovely Simply Raw Milk about their milk and it's heritage. It was wonderful to hear about their family far
