Berkshire is a fantastic place to walk with so much choice from Walks by Water, Buggy Friendly Walks, Woodland Walks plus Walking Trails. Berkshire certainly has plenty of choice to offer.

We recently went walking at Windlesham Field of Remembrance and it is a lovely location for a family morning or afternoon out. Windlesham is in Surrey and sits just over the border from Berkshire. What is at Windlesham Field of Remembrance? At Windlesham Field of Remembrance you will find large open fields surrounded by established trees plus a woodland walk, a play area and Fieldhouse Coffee which is a coffee shop and cafe. Did you know that you can go walking on The Heath at Ascot Racecourse during non-race days (click here for race day information). The Heath is a 1.7 mile circular walk which is flat and also home to Royal Ascot Cricket Club. Walking at The Heath is impressive as you can see the Ascot Racecourse grandstand throughout and also walk alongside the race track. The remains of Donnington Castle sit proudly on the top of a hill in Donnington which allows for great views of the Lambourn Valley. It’s free to visit the castle ruins (parking charges apply however) and there is a lovely walk too, we really enjoyed visiting Donnington Castle near Newbury. It's worth noting you can't get into the twin towered gatehouse. Walking at Snelsmore Common has lots of different walking route options and is made up of a range of habitats which include woodlands, wet mires and heathland. Snelsmore Common is a 96 hectare biological Site of Special Scientific Interest near Newbury in Berkshire. It is owned by West Berkshire Council and managed by the Berkshire, Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire Wildlife Trust. Pangbourne Recreation Ground Play Area is just to the north of Pangbourne Meadow. The meadow itself is popular for a short walk along the Thames, perfect for feeding the ducks or picnics in the warmer months. We recently went walking at Dorney Wetlands which is on a section of The Jubilee River which runs from Maidenhead to Windsor. The river is a 7.2 mile man-made flood relief channel which was was completed in 2002 the year of the Queen Elizabeth’s Golden Jubilee, hence the name Jubilee River.
