Why not set your the child a challenge to ‘draw’ with play dough. It’s great to see the results and their creativity.

What do I need to ‘draw’ with Play Dough
- A couple of colours of Play Dough. `
- Play Dough tools (this is not essential for this task but it might inspire creativity).
- Optional – Beads, Dried Pasta and Buttons for embellishments (make sure there are age appropriate and not a choke hazard).

Themes for ‘drawing’ with Play Dough
Allow your child space on a flat surface to be creative with their play dough. Then ask them if they can create a drawing with the play dough. It might be nice to also take a picture of their play dough drawing afterwards so that you can put the play dough away for another day once finished.

Theme ideas to explore:
Under the Sea – ‘draw’ a fish, crab or octopus.
Farm – ‘draw’ a tractor or farm animal.
Vehicle – ‘draw’ a car, lorry, boat.
Plant – ‘draw’ a tree or flower.
Mini Beast – ‘draw’ a ladybird, spider or worm.
Dinosaur – ‘draw’ your favourite dinosaur.
Space – ‘draw’ a rocket or astronaut.
Unicorn – ‘draw’ a unicorn.
Extension Activity
Could your child draw the same thing you ‘drew’ in Play Dough but in a different media e.g. paint, pencil, colouring crayon, felt tip pen? Do they look similar?
