Family friendly walks in Windsor and Maidenhead The Copper Horse, The Long Walk, Windsor Great Park The walk to the Copper Horse along The Long Walk is a wonderful flat walk, it is long as the name suggests! I recently went for a walk and visit to The Nature Discovery Centre in Thatcham and have to say I was really impressed with the Wildlife Trusts site. I went mid-week, during term time and met my parents for a social distanced walk and picnic. The weather was a mixture of sunshine and showers which was kind to us during our picnic. We took a visit to Aldermaston Wharf, which is home to part of the Kennet and Avon Canal and just 1.5 miles away from Aldermaston in West Berkshire. What did we see and do at Aldermaston Wharf? When we went for a walk at Simon’s Wood we also discovered Finchampstead Ridges on the map, so decided to go walking at Finchampstead Ridges on a separate occasion, as we noticed there were several ‘vantage points’ identified on the map and were keen to go and check out the view.
