Walking at Cantley Park

We recently went walking at Cantley Park in Wokingham. The park is made up of park land which is lovely to walk around. It is also home to Cantley Theatre and Cantley Park Sports which offers tennis courts, football pitches and archery. In the middle of Cantley Park you can find Cantley House Hotel. There is also a children’s play area and free parking.

Where did we walk?

As we entered the car park we parked in the car parking spaces to our right. From the car park we walked in the field next to the car park and followed the path around the field. We headed to the corner of the field (crossing the road / drive to Cantley House Hotel) and re-entered Cantley Park on the other side of the road.

The path then took us around Cantley Park, where we walked in a large loop around a beautiful field until we ended up at the children’s play area. After stopping at the park for a play we then walked on the path to the right of the park, at the end of this path we turned left and walked past the artificial pitch with floodlights and then the football pitches until we got back to the car.

The walk is flat, the open space is beautiful with some lovely old trees (we walked in the autumn) and took us about 20 – 30 minutes to walk around plus playtime in the park.

Is the walk buggy and dog friendly?

The walk is buggy friendly. There is a well maintained path all the way around the park, obviously they were slightly muddy and leafy in places as you would expect in the autumn but this didn’t prove an issue for our off-road buggy.

What is the children’s play area like?

The children’s play area isn’t huge but it had a climbing frame with slide, fireman’s pole and net to climb. There were two sets of swings one for toddlers, the other for older kids, a seesaw and two spring bouncer toys. The park was well maintained.
