Tumblestone Hollow is a mysteriously magical adventure playground set in the grounds of Stonor Park in Oxfordshire, just outside Henley-on-Thames. We have visited many times and always enjoy our time there.
What can you do there?
The wooden Adventure Playground here is just incredible! It has high level walkways, climbing nets, look-out decks and bridges, all connected by a quirky, gnarled central house which is set in a woodland environment with stunning views of the Stonor estate. As well as the large wooden play frame with three slides, there is also a sandpit and water area, toddler swings, tunnel and zip wire, so there is something for the smaller children as well as bigger ones too.
Tumblestone Hollow has been designed for children up to the age of 12 (but we have often seen adults climbing the nets and coming down the slides too!).
During the school holidays Tumbelstone Hollow put on special events based around the play area with storytelling, temporary tattoos and trails. We have attened several of these events and 4 hours is a good length of time to stay at Tumblestone Hollow for, to allow a good play and the additional activities.
Where can we eat?
The Rumble and Jumble Huts serve delicious wood-fired pizzas, gelato ice creams, hot drinks and more. For the food there is a buzzer system so you can continue to play until your food is ready. There is a lovely picnic area near the Visitor Centre for those wishing to take their own picnic.
The Gardens
The walled garden at Stonor is well worth a visit if you are looking to get the most out of your trip and have a break from the play area. It is stunning and peaceful with some wonderful views. The highlight for us are the ponds, which if you look carefully can be filled with all sorts of wildlife depending on what time of the year you visit.
How much does it cost to visit?
Tumblestone Hollow is open from 9.30am – 5.30pm. Please check the website to see which days they are open throughout the year.
