The Gruffalo Party Trail at Alice Holt Forest

The Gruffalo Party Trail is now at Alice Holt Forest – celebrating 25 years of The Gruffalo.

We recently explored the new Gruffalo Party Trail at Alice Holt Forest – it was good fun and you can read all about it here.

Tell Me More about the Trail

You can do the trail without a map as there are plenty of signs along the way to follow but if you would like to you can pick up a trail pack for £4 opposite the cafe at the customer services desk in the visitor centre. In the bag you get an activity leaflet, party headband, stickers, pencil and crayons plus a keepsake sew-on Gruffalo Party patch. You can also colour in the trail paper bag.

During the Gruffalo Party Trail you find the missing party items, pick a present and enjoy more activities. There are plenty of interactive panels and activities to explore along the trail. It takes you past the Gruffalo sculptures (including the new Owl and Fox additions). You start the trail at the mouse sculpture which can be found just behind the main entrance play area.

The children enjoyed ‘leading the way’ and following the signposts around the trail.

The trail also incorporates the little play areas dotted around the forest which are so much fun for the children and help to break up the walking. There are benches near the play areas too. The Owl play area in the image below is sadly being taken down soon as the timber is now getting too old to be safe to play on.

The trail is perfect for children of all ages (the activities panels are more suited to younger children but all ages can enjoy the sculptures and play areas). The trail is also buggy friendly. It will be running until the end of 2024.

How Much Does it Cost?

You can collect a trail pack for £4. You will also need to pay for the car park. Car Park prices can be found on the website.

You can find out more about the trail on their website.

What Parking and Facilities are there?

At Alice Holt there is a cafe, toilets, car park (charges apply), a number of other trails to explore, a dog wash station and also Go Ape Alice Holt.

Please note that the car park does get quite busy so we have always arrived in the morning to make sure we get a space.
