Summer Holiday Bucket List

Do you plan your summer holidays and how you are going to keep the kids busy or just take each day as it comes? I love having my little one at home with me for 6 weeks but like to plan as much as I can to ensure we are busy, whether this be at home or out and about. I find that being organised and planning ahead works well for us and also allows me to work within a budget mixing free events and activities with paid ones. One of the strategies I have adopted this year is to do a Summer Holiday Bucket List. Which consists of 10 things I would like us to visit and go and see during the holidays, some of which we haven't done before or for a long time. Here is our holiday Bucket list:- Visit Popes Meadow, Binfield   Build a Den at The Look Out, Bracknell The Maidenh...

Bug! Day at Imperial College, Silwood Park, Ascot

It always makes my day when you find out about an amazing event taking place in Berkshire, thanks to @hello.happiness.windsor for the recommendation. I had no idea Imperial College had a campus in Ascot and it’s such a beautiful place to have spent an afternoon. Sadly we didn’t explore the grounds of the campus enough through the organised bug hunts and pond dipping as the weather was too hot for us (although I am not complaining about the heatwave, it’s great, although a bit of rain for the trees, plants and garden would be welcome) but hopefully the event will run again next year and we can go exploring. There were a couple of gazebos, one for the very popular face painting and the other for a large rainforest game. Inside the main marquee were so many displays, demonstrations

A day at West Wittering Beach

On Sunday 24th June we headed for a day on the beach at West Wittering in Chichester. It’s one of our favourite beaches to visit, especially as it’s a sandy beach with good car parking facilities (we paid £8.50 to park for the day, which we paid by card on arrival) and is generally a relatively straight forward journey from Berkshire, traffic dependant. We arrived at about 10.30am and the car park was very busy but there was still room to park. The beach was also busy but due to its size it still felt to me as though there was enough room for everyone. There are toilets and showers at the beach plus a cafe with ice cream shop. There were life guards on the beach. Water sports are also encouraged in a different part of the sea to the swimmers, which I thought was a sensible idea. We

Locks Ride Recreation Park

Locks Ride Recreation Park between Warfield and Ascot is a lovely and popular park, particularly on sunny days at weekends and school holidays. There is a 'beach', splash pad (open in the warmer months), climbing equipment, hammocks, swings, a slide, a trampoline and two zip wires. There is a large playing field and picnic / bbq area. You can hire the bbq’s from Winkfield Parish Council. The Cabin was recently introduced to Locks Ride Recreational Park which offers a selection of drinks, snacks and ice cream. It is not open all year round, especially when cold and wet but keep an eye on this page as it will tell you when The Cabin is open. Parking is free at the park, there is a water fountain and toilets you can use. To view the Berkshire Mummies disclaimer click
