On Bank Holiday Monday we took a family trip to Feathers and Fur Falconry Centre for their ‘Spring Fever’ Open Day which was free of charge. The Falconry Centre is based at Ladds Garden Village in Hare Hatch, Reading.
The Open Day took place between 11am – 4pm and there was an opportunity to meet the owls and pose for a picture, which cost £1. There were Falconers Talks next to the baby Harris Hawks during the day, lots of interesting facts and games around the Falconry Centre as well as craft activities, a discovery table and there was a chance for children to sit in the giant Red Kite nest.
During the Open Day you were also able to look at all the beautiful birds including Barn Owls, an Indian Eagle Owl, Harris Hawks, a Peregrine Falcon and a European-Eagle Owl to name some of the birds we saw.
Keep an eye on the Falconry Centre’s website and social media channels for their next Open Day. I found the event really interesting and informative and found the Open Day was a great event for our little one, with hands on activities and all the different birds to see.
