‘Sign Spotting’

Do you enjoy going for family walks but would you like to add a new dimension of challenge to a walk? Why not spot road signs on your walk – it helps to give little minds something to focus on during the walk.

Road Signs
What do I need to go ‘Sign Spotting’?

You don’t need any resources if you don’t wish. However you could take a pen and paper (if you have a clipboard you may wish to use that as well) to record your observations.

You could also take a camera and create a collage of the photos you have taken (see above).

What do we do when we go ‘Sign Spotting’?

You can literally go for a walk and look around you and see what road signs you can spot on your walk – can you spot any which are similar or the same?

Alternatively you can write them down or draw the road signs you see.

You could also record how many of each road sign you spot on your walk.

You could also discuss the pictures and words you see in different road signs.

You could also spot road signs by shape – round, rectangle, triangle etc.

Extension Activity

Why not do a colour hunt on your walk and pick a different colour each time you go out for a walk?
