Shurlock Road Nature Reserve

Shurlock Road Nature Reserve, which opened in 2019 is a lovely place to visit if you want to get out in a field, see some aeroplanes flying over from White Waltham Airport and have a play in a play area. The nature reserve is situated between Shurlock Row and Waltham St Lawrence.

What is at Shurlock Road Nature Reserve

At the Nature Reserve you will find a small car park for 6 cars including one disabled space and eight bike spaces. The Nature Reserve is set in a fenced field with a fenced pond in the middle of it, you can walk around the field and to the pond. Also at the nature reserve was a play area set among mounds of grass ‘a bit like a mini teletubbie land’ with picnic benches in the centre. We visited with our toddler who had a wonderful time explore.

There was a range of play equipment including a large bumpy slide, tunnel, bridge, balance beams, totem pole, swings (sadly one was missing), stepping stone rocks and stepping logs.

It was such a piece for place to play and would make a fantastic picnic location.

Is it dog friendly and buggy friendly?

You can take dogs to the Nature Reserve but you are asked to keep them on a lead. When we visited there were no set paths, just a large grass field so not that easy for buggies, although the car park isn’t too far away from the play area.
