Review // The Red Lion, Stoke Green

On Wednesday 6th February 2019 I was invited to the media preview at The Red Lion in Stoke Green, just outside Slough. The pub has recently undergone a refurb and it was great to have a preview of the restaurant prior to it re-opening this Saturday. I was lucky enough to be able to invite a guest and took my husband along and we took the opportunity to have a little date night.

Upon arrival, we were greeted by the roaring fires, an amazing gin station and a bar packed full of drink choices. We sat by one of the open fires and were kindly given a selection of canapés which allowed us to sample some of the dishes on the starter menu before heading to the restaurant.

The Red Lion has an incredible selection of menus available including the lunch, dinner and dessert menus plus a mid-week treat menu, Sunday lunch menu and vegan menu. There is also a children’s menu offering Battered Cod Goujons, British Beef Burger Sliders and Linguine with Tomato Sauce and salad just to name a couple of options on offer for little ones plus Sunday Roast options for Sundays.

My husband and I opted to share a starter after indulging in the canapés. We went for the Crispy Karaage Chicken which was really nicely presented and tasted equally delicious. For mains I had the Chicken, Leek and Crème Fraiche Pie and my husband went for the King Prawn, Crab and Chorizo Linguini, we both enjoyed our mains and the newly decorated restaurant had a great buzz and lovely ambience to it. For dessert we then shared an Ice-Cream and Home-Baked Triple Chocolate Cookie, to be honest, there were plenty of desserts that sounded appealing on the menu – I could have tried most of them!

After finishing our meal, before heading home we went for a quick tour around the pub. It was lovely to see the buildings traditional characteristics being made a feature of within the new décor and the new private dining room for 8 people was a great concept if you were hosting a small, intimate party or celebration.

The staff were all fantastic and extremely welcoming and we would make the trip out to The Red Lion, Stoke Green in the future for another meal. I have previously also reviewed on of the The Red Lion’s sister pubs, The Warren, Wokingham. Click here to read the review.

*#AD, I was #gifted the meal for two at The Red Lion at their media preview, in exchange for a review on the Berkshire Mummies blog. Views are my own. I have also previously reviewed sister pub, The Warren at Wokingham. Click here to view the Berkshire Mummies disclaimer.*
