Review of The Fox and Hounds in Englefield Green

(AD Disclaimer: We were gifted a family meal in exchange for an honest review. Views are honest and the opinions of Berkshire Mummies)

We recently visited The Fox and Hounds in Englefield Green for the purpose of this review, for Sunday Lunch and had an excellent experience. There was a great atmosphere in the pub – with dogs and all generations of the family made very welcome. The staff were friendly and attentive and the food generous in size and delicious too.

What did we eat?

To start we had a couple of starters to share and chef was extra generous as he sent us some Chipotle Beef Tacos as an extra dish to sample. We ordered the Garlic and Herb Camembert and the Salt and Pepper Squid.

After our mains my husband and I both enjoyed the Roast Lamb. It was just fantastic – the meat cooked so well and the plate packed full with a good mixture of vegetables, roast potatoes, yorkshire pudding and plenty of gravy. It was honestly the best roast I have eaten in a long time and we will be visiting again soon to eat it again!

What was the children’s menu like?

Our children picked their meals off the children’s menu. On the children’s menu you get a main course and pudding for £10 per child. My yongest ordered a Margherita Pizza which was cooked in the wood-fired pizza oven and my eldest enjoyed the fish and chips. Again the portions were generous in size and my children enjoyed there meals, although they couldn’t finish them!

Other options on the children’s menu were Grilled Chicken Breast and Chips, Cheeseburger and Chips, Pasta with Butter or Tomato Sauce or Hot Dog and Chips. For dessert the children can have Vanilla Soft Serve Ice Cream.

What did we have for dessert?

For dessert we enjoyed a Berry Sunday and Warm Chocolate Brownie and Ice Cream. Again both were well presented and very tasty.
