We visited Norden Farm Centre for the Arts at the beginning of December on a Saturday morning to watch Miki. It was a beautiful show, perfect for younger children.

Review of Miki

Miki was such a joy to watch. A wonderful story and a perfect at this time of the year. The costumes are just fantastic, set beautiful and simplistic and the performance incredibly well put together.

Miki, Polar Bear and Penguin live together in a cold and icy place where nothing ever grows. One day they make a wish and Miki goes on a magical journey in search of a star, heading under the ice into the depths of the ocean.

Miki meets a whole range of under water creatures including fish, a crab, jellyfish, squids and more. The costumes and puppetry are very clever and well done.

The show is based on the book by Stephen Mackey and explores the themes of friendship, courage and adventure. The puppets are the stars of the show and cleverly guided by a team of three puppeteers. My children absolutely loved the different animals Miki met throughout the preformance and they were captivated throughout, the costumes were fab, especially the crab! The short performance (50 minutes) was just the perfect length to keep their attention.

Alongside the show you will find the chill out space which is definitely worth visiting after the show. This is a SEND friendly space where children can relax on a bean bag and soak up the atmosphere.
