I was invited along by the Giggling Squid, Wokingham to enjoy a complimentary meal for two and chose to take my husband as my guest. We very rarely go out as a couple, so we organised a family member to babysit and on Tuesday 9th October 2018 visited the restaurant.
We were made very welcome and chose where we would like to sit. We ordered our drinks and browsed the menu. To start we had the sharing platter for two which included strips of hand-cut pork grilled on skewers, salt and pepper squid, Thai chicken wings and vegetable spring rolls and we also had a portion of prawn crackers. The starter was delicious and the sharing platter was a great way to sample a selection of the starters.
For mains, I had a Chicken Thai Red curry and sticky rice and my husband had the Sleeping Honey Duck with Orange. We asked the waitress what she would recommend as a side with the Duck and she recommended the stir fry noodles with beansprouts. The food came out promptly and was presented at our table. The plates we were given to eat from were warm, which was a real tick from me. The Thai Red curry was delicious and a real treat as I struggle to replicate an authentic Thai curry at home myself. I also tried my husband’s Honey Duck with Orange and it was fantastic. The food and drinks were all delicious but sadly there was no room for dessert.
Our evening at the Giggling Squid was very relaxed with subtle lighting and a calm atmosphere in the restaurant. We will definitely be returning to a Giggling Squid near us either for another date night or to take our little one to experience some Thai cuisine.
Many thanks to the Giggling Squid, Wokingham for the opportunity.
