Punch Bowl in Valley Gardens, Virginia Water
Earlier in the year we walked to the very beautiful Punch Bowl in Valley Gardens, Virginia Water which is in Windsor Great Park. Valley Gardens can be found on the North shores of Virginia Water Lake and at Springtime in particular the Punch Bowl is truly stunning with vibrant colours which are just beautiful to see.
There are a number of benches overlooking the Punch Bowl, so it’s a great place to take a breather and enjoy the view. We stopped here for a picnic.
We parked at the main Virginia Water Car Park (Post Code GU25 4QF) and then walked down towards the lake at The Pavilion, following the main path right until we reached the totem pole. At the totem pole we then followed the signs to Valley Gardens, en-route we saw bluebells. Once we met the very large tree stump, we went left down into The Punch Bowl, we followed the Punch Bowl round and headed back the way we came back to the car park. The walk was 2 miles long and took about 1 1/2 hours.
You can take bikes on half the route but you are not allowed to cycle from the Totem pole and once in Valley Gardens.
You don’t need to pay to enter this part of Windsor Great Park, except for the car parking charge. Dogs are welcome but in Valley Gardens dogs must be kept on a lead.
It’s worth noting that you cannot walk into the Punch Bowl once there but there are a number of viewing areas at the top and bottom, allowing you to take wonderful photos and enjoy all the flowers when they are in bloom. We visited in May 2023 and it was beautiful.

What Facilities are there?
There is a cafe at the main entrance to Virginia Water (the main car park) which offers hot and cold food and drink. There are toilets here too.
