The brand new destination play area was opened at California Country Park in Wokingham in April 2021 and is a wonderful new facility in Berkshire for families.
What’s at the play area at California Country Park?
The play area is a large play space which is suitable for both younger and older children. If you have been to California Country Park previously the pirate ship is still at the park, it’s just had a make over and is now bright red.
The play space is split into two areas – The Sensory Garden and The Wild Wood.
There is an area for water play area in The Sensory Garden (make sure you remember your wellies as it’s great for splashing!).
At the play park you will find a tree house with a tube slide, swings, climbing frames, zip wire, musical cushions and more. There are also some wonderful wooden carved wooden animals dotted around, a large climbing log and musical jumping pillows.
The play area includes a range of inclusive and interactive equipment including the musical chime walkway, trampoline, a spinning disc and swings that are suitable for wheelchair users.
The popular paddling pool is still at California Country Park which opens during the summer months.
You no longer need to book the play area – so just turn up and play. Car parking charges apply.

There are lake side walks at California Country Park to enjoy. Remember food to feed the birds, we fed ducks, geese, swans and coots during our visit.
You can also walk to Finchampstead Baptist Church from California Country Park which has another wonderful play area.
