Bike rides are a lovely way to spend time together as a family; providing time away from screens and giving the opportunity to make some memories outside in the fresh air together. You can always combine the bike ride with a stop off at a park or café to break up the journey for little legs. We have put together some family friendly places to go for a family bike ride in Berkshire.
Swinley Forest
Swinley Forest in Bracknell has 24km of purpose built bike trails for all ages and abilities. There are 3 main routes, with the Green Trail being the most suitable for beginners and families with children. Once you have been for your bike ride you could pay a visit to The Lookout play area and they also have a café for refreshments.
Ascot Heath Racecourse
You can head to The Heath at Ascot Racecourse on non-race days for a walk or cycle around the grounds. It’s flat so perfect for children to cycle around. There is also a play area in the middle of the Heath to break up the ride.

Jubilee River, Slough
The cycle route along the Jubilee River path is beautiful. Take a look here for some more detail to help you plan your route. We had a lovely walk along the Jubilee River a little while ago.

Snelsmore Common
Snelsmore Common is a nice place to take the bikes and scooters – there’s a lot to see along the ride from the ponies which are quite often grazing around the routes to Donnington Castle if you venture far enough. There is a café for refreshments. Take a read about our visit here.

Dinton Pastures
Cycling round by the lake at Dinton Pastures is a lovely way to get some exercise and fresh air. And there’s lots of activities to do afterwards as well including the large play park.

Black Park Country Park
There are numerous routes to enjoy around Black Park, which is set in 500 acres of forests, heathlands and open fields. The paths are wide and flat so suitable for families. There is a café and play area too.
Bucklers Forest
Lovely and flat, perfect for children on bikes or scooters. Read about our visit here.
