Chinese New Year, Maidenhead Celebrate – The Year of The Rat

A couple of years ago we experienced the Chinese New Year celebrations in Maidenhead which marked the Year of the Dog. The sun shone as the Chinese Dragons danced their way down the high street after starting the procession with firecrackers, drums and dancing. There was a great atmosphere in the town as the Chinese Dragons, a symbol of China, which are believed to bring good luck to people, made their way along the procession route – it was fantastic to watch.

This year, 2020, marks The Year of the Rat and Maidenhead celebrate again on Saturday 25th January 2020, 1pm – 2pm. The Eagle Claw Kung Fu School UK will again perform their traditional dragon and lion dance. The dragon dance will make its way down Maidenhead High Street from The Boy and the Boat statue at the top of the High Street at 1pm.
