(AD) Lunch at Caldesi in Campagna in Bray

(AD Disclaimer) Berkshire Mummies was gifted lunch at Caldesi in Campagna in exchange for an honest review. Views are those of Berkshire Mummies.

We were kindly invited by Katie and Giancarlo Caldesi to be guests in their restaurant Caldesi in Campagna. So my husband and I went for lunch on a Wednesday and it was an all-round fantastic experience. The restaurant can be found in Bray which is a village renowned for it’s top-quality restaurants.

Tell us more about the experience…

Upon arrival, our coats were taken and we were seated in the conservatory at the back of the restaurant before our drinks order was taken.

The waiting staff couldn’t be faulted; their smiles, sense of humour, menu knowledge and hard work was hard to fault. They were just on the ball and gave a first-class service throughout.

Whilst waiting for our starters, a selection of homemade breads and oil were brought to the table – some of the bread was still warm, fresh out of the oven! We were also bought an amuse-bouche which was the tastiest mini croquet, and it certainly left us wanting more.

There was a wide selection on the menu and after taking advice from the one of the waiters, my husband went for the antipasto whilst I opted for the scallops for starters.

For the main course, my husband went for the seafood grilled platter and I had the slow-cooked lamb. The food was all incredibly tasty and the scallops and lamb were cooked to perfection in my opinion.

To round off our meal, for dessert we had the panna cotta and sorbet which were both absolutely delicious.

The restaurant had a great sense of formal dining which was relaxed at the same time with Katie and Giancarlo taking the time to come to talk to us during our meal and the other guests in the restaurant too. It really is a family run business and everyone is made to feel very welcome.

Whilst the restaurant isn’t the cheapest around, the food was of an incredibly high standard, with service to match and it’s certainly a place to go for a special occasion as you will be made to feel very welcome.

We didn’t take our children with us but I know the Caldesi’s and the team would make children feel very welcome, but equally this is a wonderful experience if you are looking for a child-free meal.
