Berkshire Mummies recently visited Goswell & Bird’s Village Store which is connected to The Greyhound Pub in Finchampstead. Buccan Pubs took over the pub in 2021 and have not only refurbished the pub, but they have also added a lovely Village Store, Farm Shop and Coffee Shop on-site.
Back in September 2021, we reviewed The Greyhound – the food was excellent and we’d certainly recommend a visit.
What can you find there?
Upon entering Goswell & Bird’s, what strikes you first is the décor and layout which instantly make it feel like an inviting place to shop. The shop stocks a selection of high-end produce and there is a good range if you are looking for some tasty treats and gifts. They have everything from bread, eggs, cheese, fruit, vegetables, flour, chutneys, meats, alcohol and much more.
You will also find beautiful fresh flowers, gift items and food gifts. Whilst I was there, I bought two Swedish Gava Easter Aggs, which are reusable Swedish Easter Eggs and they were just beautiful (see picture below) – I can’t wait to bring them out at Easter for many years to come.
As well as doing a spot of shopping, you can also buy drinks, pastries and cakes to enjoy in the coffee shop. The coffee shop connects to the pub and restaurant and it makes for a great location to meet with friends and family or for a business meeting. There is also seating outside for the warmer months.
Donna, the shop manager, was very passionate and knowledgeable about all the products stocked in the shop. It was wonderful to see so many local Berkshire food and drinks brands stocked there including Oakdale Bees, Barkham Blue Cheese and Sirens Beer.
I look forward to visiting Goswell & Bird’s again soon for more shopping and a drink in the coffee shop.
