Charities are important all year round and they especially need support at Christmas time. There are some wonderful charities in Berkshire, and we have listed as many as we can here in the Giving this Christmas in Berkshire post. There are also plenty of charity events to take part in so you can give a little something back to those in need this Christmas.

Charities looking for donations

Bas Books and Home – Are running a Christmas Toy Drive this Christmas to support Sebastian’s Action Trust. Please donations to their shop in the Kennet Centre, Newbury any Sunday in November 2023, 10am – 4pm. They are also collecting collecting unwanted intact Christmas decorations, trees and christmas jumpers. Click here for more details.

Reading Family Aid Toys and Teens Appeal – The 2023 Appeal will launch officially on 19th October 2023 and the Toy Project week when all the donations are checked, sorted and distributed will take place during December 3rd to 8th 2023. You can find out more here.

The Baby Bank Windsor – They are holding a Christmas Pyjama Appeal asking for donations of brand new pyjamas, a selection box & new book in a labelled gift bag for them to gift to local children of newborn age up to sixteen (small/medium & large adults sizes also needed). The closing date for these packs is Friday 1st December 2023. Drop off will be at Tectonic Place, Holyport, SL6 2YE Monday, Wednesday and Fridays 9:30am-12pm. You can find more information here.

Berkshire Women’s Aid – Visit their Facebook page to see how you can help and donate this Christmas time.

The Cowshed – Please visit their Facebook Page to see how you can donate so that the charity can ensure children in need receive presents this Christmas. They have set up an Amazon wishlist to purchase from.

First Days Children’s Charity – In partnership with Wokingham Borough Council, SHARE Wokingham, Wokingham Foodbank, and other local charities and groups, they will be running “A Christmas Presence”, a community Christmas project for families in the community. You can find out how you can donate here.

Bracknell Christmas Toy Bank, Donate Toys and Books you don’t want or need to Little Leapers, RG12 1JG. Monday – Friday 9.30am – 2.30pm or Saturday and Sunday 10am – 12noon. Click here for more details.

Give a Gift for Christmas – Family Hub Service, Donate a gift by the end of November 2023. They are looking for new gifts for 0-3yrs and 8-18yrs only. Click here for more information and donation points.

Bracknell Food Bank – The Lexicon has teamed up with Bracknell Food Bank to give back this Christmas. From 27th November 2023 can donate an advent calendar to a local family by putting it in the Lexicon Giving Box in Princess Square.

The Stirrups Hotel, Bracknell are asking for donations of toys for The Salvation Army this Christmas. They will be collecting new toys in the Reception up until 2nd December 2023. Click here for more information.

Glow Walk – First Days Children’s Charity, Dinton Pastures Country Park, Hurst, 18th November 2023, arrive from 5pm with last arrival 8pm. Click here for information.

The Light Pool, Princess Square, Bracknell, 25th November 2023 – 2nd January 2024 (select days only). Free but donations Bracknell Food Bank are welcomed. Click here for details and to book.

Newbury Rotary Santa Fun Run, The Market Place, Newbury, 26th November 2023, Check in from 9am and run starts at 10.30am. 1km and 5km routes – for adults and children. Engraved medal for all finishers. Runners are invited to raise money for their own good causes using this event. Click here for details.

Alexander Devine Santa Dash – This takes place in Windsor on 26th November 2023. Please click here for more information.

Christmas Lights in Kingfisher Chase, Jennett’s Park, Bracknell, from 26th November 2023. Taking donations in aid of Macmillan Cancer Research. Click here for details.

Santa is on his Way – Lions Club of Reading, 1st – 19th December 2023. Santa visits various locations throughout December. Donations will go to local Reading charities. Click here for details and the route.

Spencer’s Wood, Three Mile Cross and Shinfield Charity Christmas Trail 2023, 15th – 30th December 2023. Collect a free map from your local Budgens, Robyn’s Nest and One Stop from the 9th December 2023 and find all the houses on the map. Money raise will go to local charity The Cowshed.
