Children (and adults!) love animals and there are lots of amazing farms, farm parks and zoos in and around Berkshire. We have listed some here. Please visit their websites for further information on what is offered, events, opening times, restrictions etc.

Animal Rangers: A small therapeutic farm which helps young people learn about animals. They hold children’s animal parties, small animal handling sessions and you can also book to become an animal ranger for the day.

*BCA Zoo: A small zoo, home to over 100 different animals. You can book zoo tours, family zoo days, a zookeeper experience, animal encounters and even animal photography sessions.

Beale Wildlife Park: Berkshire’s only wildlife park with over 160 species of birds and animals in both zoo and farmyard areas. There are plenty of play areas, train rides, and gardens to walk around. You can also pay extra for animal experiences where you can go “behind the scenes” with the animals team, learn about and feed the animals.

*Bucklebury Farm: Deer and Safari park consisting mainly of animals but there are lots of play areas too and you can even stay the night in one of their cabins in the woods.

*Jakes Indoor Softplay and Mini Farm: Giant indoor play barn which is over 3 floors high, lots of animals to meet and feed (including a giant tortoise), 2 large fishing lakes, an obstacle course and bird watching towers. Lockey Farm: Traditional free-range working farm where you can see and feed animals up close. You can visit the coffee shop and farm shop and there’s lots of play areas too, including crazy golf. Entrance is free, but donations are very much welcomed as these go towards the upkeep of the farm park.

Wellington Country Park: Award-winning family park with adventure playgrounds, mini golf, an animal farm, indoor softplay, miniature railway and lots more. There are woodland trails for walking as well. You can also turn your day out into a mini break and stay over in their campsite.

4 Kingdoms Adventure and Farm Park: Set around 3 large lakes with lots of farm animals to see and 21 play zones to explore. There are also inflatables, pedal boats and 4 different train rides.

Birdworld: Not just home to the UK’s largest bird park, but there is also Jenny Wren Farm where visitors can meet some fluffier animals too.

Bocketts Farm: A working family farm with plenty of play areas and animals inside and outside. Highlights include the indoor trampolines, pony rides, tractor and trailer rides and even pig races too!

*Chobham Adventure Farm: Indoor soft play (which features the vertical death drop slide), outdoor play areas (including a huge sand pit) and an animal barn.

Marwell Zoo: Great family day out with 100s of animals to see and 5 adventure playgrounds. There are road trains to help you get around the zoo (the train does not run all year round) and several gardens to explore as well.

Millers Ark Animals: Hands on farm for all ages, running open days for both children and adults to enjoy an up close experience with the animals. They also offer dedicated days for the elderly and those with special needs. There is a tea barn too for refreshments.

Millet’s Farm Centre: There is plenty to keep families entertained here with Sprouts Indoor Playbarn, an outdoor play area, an animal walkway where you can see a selection of different farm animals, a traditional carousel, falconry centre, woodland walking trails, Pick Your Own, a maize maze (where there are also trampolines, go karts and crazy golf), a garden centre and farm shop.

Odds Farm: Award-winning family farm park with loads of play areas, mini golf and plenty of animals! Animal activities include cow milking demonstrations, feeding the chickens and meeting the animals. There are also tractor and trailer rides around the farm.
