Family Friendly Festive Events in Berkshire

Windsor on Ice is open between 17th November 2018 – 6th January 2019 and you will find the ice rink in Alexandra Gardens, Windsor. Click here to find out more.

Wokingham Winter Carnival, 25th November 2018. 11am – 6pm. The carnival is a free community event held in the town centre. Attractions include fun fair rides, over 125 food, craft and charity stalls plus entertainment including a magic show, Punch and Judy, comedy jugglers, clowns, Morris dances and more. Santa’s Grotto will be at the library between 11am – 3pm. The theme for this years carnival is Love Wokingham: A Winter Wonderland. Click here to find out more.

Festive Penguin Event, Kennet Shopping Centre, Newbury, 25th November 2018, 11am – 3pm. The Kennet Shopping Centre are hosting a fun free Penguin event, for children. No booking required. Educational talks will be held at 12 noon, 1pm and 2pm. Click here for more information.

Sunningdale Christmas Celebration,30th November 2018, 5pm – 7pm, Sunningdale (Cobham Road and the A30). Free event. Shops and businesses will be open late. There will be Santa’s grotto, mulled wine, mince pies, biscuit decorating, face painting, local choirs and more. Click here for more information.

Windsor Reindeer Parade, Windsor, 1st December 2018, 2pm – 4pm. Live Reindeer and Father Christmas will be on a sleigh parading through Windsor town centre with a marching band and costume characters. The parade leaves the castle from Advance Gate at 2pm and turns into St Albans Street then into Park Street, High Street (past the Parish Church and Windsor Guildhall), into Peascod Street and then into King Edward Court. The parade will finish in Windsor Yards. You can also have your photo taken with Father Christmas on his sleigh before he returns to Lapland. For more information click here.

Christmas Family Craft Workshops, 1st December 2018, 10.30am – 11.30am, West Berkshire Museum, Newbury. Learn how to construct a paper sculpture based on cutting, curling and folding paper. Pick to make either a Father Christmas head with a lift-off hat or a holly wreath. £3.50 per child. Suitable for 7+ years. Book tickets by calling 01635 519562 or emailing museum@westberks.gov.uk. Elf Academy at The Lexicon, 1st, 8th and 15th December 2018. Children get the chance to go to Santa’s workshop in The Lexicon. The children will get the opportunity to complete arts and craft tasks set by Held Elf during the 45 minute session, with the chance of becoming a certified elf. Suitable for 3-10 year olds. The Elf Academy will be held on The Avenue next to Charles Tyrwhitt on the dates mentioned above, in 45 minutes sessions between 10.30am-5.15pm. Santa Paws at Battersea Old Windsor, Santa Claus will be at Battersea Old Windsor on 8th December between 10.30am-4pm. Dog owners will have the chance to have a festive photoshoot with their four-legged family members. Professional prints will be available to purchase on the day starting from £12. You can also purchase the photo on key-rings, fridge magnets and even hanging snowflakes. Click here for more information.

Wokingham’s Living Advent Calendar, 1st December 2018 – 24th December 2018. Each weekday at 6pm and weekends at 4pm a venue around Wokingham will host a free performance lasting approximately 20 minutes. Windsor and Eton Living Advent, The Windsor and Eton Living Advent Calendar is a collaborative project run with Windsor, Eton and Ascot Town Partnership and 24 local businesses. There is live entertainment every evening from 1st to 24th December 2018. Like a children’s advert calendar, a different window or door is opened every evening at 6.15pm promptly and a 15 minute performance is given to the audience assembled outside each participating business. Maidenhead Lantern Parade, Maidenhead (The Carnival of Animals), 8th December 2018. 4.30pm Live Music and Entertainment. 5pm Parade departs from Maidenhead Town Hall. 5.45pm – 6.15pm Live Music and Entertainment continues. Candyland Christmas, The Sanctuary Barn, Binfield. 15th December 2018, 11am – 5pm. There will be a tombola, games, free face painiting, chestnuts, mince pies plus a visit from Mrs Claus and a little present (for good children) and live music. Click here for event details.

Dinton Christmas Fair 2018 at Dinton Pastures Country Park. 15th and 16th December 2018, 11am – 7pm. In the large marquee will be a range of products and there will also be a selection of hot and cold food available on site. You can purchase tokens for the Fairgound Rides and book your session on the climbing tower at the information tent in the main car park. Christmas Santa Trail and Family Fun Day, Moss End Village, Warfield, 16th December 2018, 12noon – 4pm. Santa and his Reindeer will be coming to Moss End Village for the family fun day. Children can collect their ‘Trail Map’ (only available on the day) at the main entrance (suggested donation £1 per family) and you can collect the four trail stamps before meeting Santa himself. There will be fairground rides, sweet treats, hot food and mulled wine. The event is a non-ticket event. No booking is required. Click here for more information.

Christmas Concertini at Cookham Rise Methodist Church, 21st December 2018, 11.30am (relaxed performance) and 2pm. The Cantorum Choir will be performing highlights from their annual Christmas Concert plus some well-known carols. The 11.30am performance is a relaxed performance especially for families with babies and toddlers or children with SEND. The 2pm performance is open to everyone but will be particularly suitable for families with children between 3-8 years. Click here for more information.

Christmas Cracker, Windsor Royal Station, 22nd December 2018 – 23rd December 2018. 12noon – 4pm. There will be a weekend of Nutcracker inspired activities and the event is free and there is a Nutcracker trail for the children to take part in. There will also be live ballerina performances on the magical music box at 12pm, 12.20pm, 1pm, 1.20pm, 2pm, 2.20pm, 2.40pm, 3pm, 3.20pm and 3.40pm. Food and drink will be available to purchase.
