A couple of years ago we experienced the Chinese New Year celebrations in Maidenhead which then marked the Year of the Dog. The sun shone as the Chinese Dragons danced their way down the high street after starting the procession with firecrackers, drums and dancing. There was a great atmosphere in the town as the Chinese Dragons, a symbol of China, which are believed to bring good luck to people, made their way along the procession route – it was fantastic to watch.
This year, 2022, marks The Year of the Tiger and Maidenhead celebrate again on Saturday 5th February 2022, 1pm. The Eagle Claw Kung Fu School UK will again perform their traditional dragon and lion dance. The dragon dance will make its way down Maidenhead High Street. When we saw the dance previously it started at The Boy and the Boat statue at the top of the High Street. Click here to see the event poster.
