AD – Review // Little Kickers, Bracknell and Camberley

Coach Dom kindly invited myself and my little one to have a go at a 6 week Little Kickers course in Bracknell. My child thoroughly enjoyed taking part in the weekly classes, which took place on a Friday afternoon and alongside learning football techniques including goal scoring, dribbling and stopping the ball it was great to see my child running around having fun whilst also developing other skills including listening to instructions and the whistle, taking turns, hand-eye co-ordination, tidying up and balancing objects to name a few. I found that the coaches who ran the sessions had a great…

‘Spring Fever’ Open Day at Feathers and Fur Falconry Centre

On Bank Holiday Monday we took a family trip to Feathers and Fur Falconry Centre for their 'Spring Fever' Open Day which was free of charge. The Falconry Centre is based at Ladds Garden Village in Hare Hatch, Reading. The Open Day took place between 11am - 4pm and there was an opportunity to meet the owls and pose for a picture, which cost £1. There were Falconers Talks next to the baby Harris Hawks during the day, lots of interesting facts and games around the Falconry Centre as well as craft activities, a discovery table and there was a…

All Aboard at Pinewood (Wokingham) Miniature Railway

All Aboard at Pinewood (Wokingham) Miniature Railway

*This post was written pre-covid. Keep an eye on the miniature railway webpage for updates of when the railway may re-open. We visited the Pinewood Miniature Railway situated between Wokingham and Crowthorne on 15th April 2018. It’s certainly popular and we queued for about 15 minutes for a ride on one of the miniature trains. There were about 4 trains in operation so the queue kept moving all the time. Whilst waiting it was great fun just watching the trains (a mixture of electric and steam) leaving and returning to the station and it meant that my little one didn’t…

Justin’s Band, Wales Millennium Centre, Cardiff Bay

My aim for this blog is to share our family friendly experiences as much as possible in Berkshire. However, on occasions we do go further afield and I aim to write up blog posts about holidays or weekend destinations around the UK that we visit. I have come to the conclusion that we are visiting them so I might as well share our experiences in case you happen to find yourself heading there. In the Autumn we headed to the Lake District and I put a blog post together about our wonderful time in the national park. We decided to…

Binfield Easter Egg Hunt

Binfield Easter Egg Hunt

Today we took part in the Binfield Easter Egg Hunt which is taking place until Sunday 8th April 2018 in Binfield Village. There are 33 eggs hidden around the village and you can get a map for the egg hunt from Crema Coffee Shop or Binfield Village Stores. The Easter Egg Hunt maps are £2 each and I believe it’s certainly worth getting a map as the eggs are hidden over quite a large area. The surrounding main roads can be busy. Whilst we were on the egg hunt there were lots of people taking part, of all ages. It…

A family trip to Dinton Pastures Country Park

A family trip to Dinton Pastures Country Park

We took a family trip to Dinton Pastures Country Park during the first weekend of February half term. Despite it being cold the sky was bright blue and the sun was shining. We arrived at about 10am on the Sunday morning and parked in the overflow car park as the main car park was already full (parking charges apply). First of all we went for a walk around the lake. There were lots of ducks and geese to look at and plenty of muddy puddles! Our walk was lovely and it was fantastic to be outside in the fresh air,…

Skiing without Snow

Skiing without Snow

With the Winter Olympics having just started in PyeongChang, I thought it was rather apt when the opportunity to interview Stephanie Cook who won the GB National Rollerski Series in 2016 presented itself, so I took the opportunity to find out a little more about how you can ski without snow in this country and in particular Berkshire. Steph started Rollerskiing 14 years ago after trying cross country skiing on holiday with her mum in New Zealand. She attended a ski club in the Yorkshire Dales where she lived at the time. This is where Steph learnt the techniques and…

AD - Review // Role Play at Little Street, Frimley. I was gifted tickets for this experience in exchange for a review. Wow wow wow, Little Street. I was so impressed and my little one didn’t want to leave at the end of the session as we just had such a wonderful time in the world of role play. Thank you for giving us tickets in exchange for reviewing our experience. I had wanted to go to Little Street for quite a while as I had heard and seen such good things online, so I was delighted when Little Street, Frimley…

The Jelly Lounge in Windsor

The Jelly Lounge in Windsor

On 6th December 2017 I was invited to have a tour around The Jelly Lounge in Windsor ahead of the grand opening at midday on 7th December 2017. Upon arrival I was introduced to co-founders Tamar and Jenny who showed me around the new family club and explained their vision and passion for the club - a place for families to come, somewhere for children to have fun, explore and play whilst being with their families but also a place to give parents, grandparents and carers a chance for a drink, a bite to eat and an environment to meet…
