AD // Gifted for Review – Beat That!

Thank you Gutter Games Ltd for gifting Berkshire Mummies Beat That! to review. We love a board game over the festive period and can’t wait to play this throughout the holidays. The game appealed as there is a chance to challenge yourself in ways that you might not necessarily do in everyday life. The game tests your understanding of your confidence levels verses your actual competence to achieve the set challenge. Who can play Beat That! The game is aimed at 11+ year olds. We don’t have children this age so played the games as a ‘date night’ whilst the…

Alice Holt Forest, Gruffalo Sculptures

Alice Holt Forest, Gruffalo Sculptures

On Sunday 6th January 2019 we had a family trip to Alice Holt Forest in Farnham, Surrey. The Forest is approx 23 miles from Bracknell, 28 miles from Reading and 29 miles from Windsor. We had never been to Alice Holt Forest but I knew there were Gruffalo sculptures there and I was keen for my little one to see them as we all enjoy reading The Gruffalo and the other children's books by Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler. The Forest which is Forestry Commission run is vast, spanning 850 hectares. Once parked we headed to the information desk to…

Sunninghill Victorian Street Fayre 2018

Sunninghill Victorian Street Fayre 2018

Today we spent a lovely family day at Sunninghill Victorian Street Fayre. It is the first time we have been to the event and there was a real community feel throughout the village. The High Street and school playground was lined with stalls selling a variety of food, drink and gifts, plus charities were raising money. There were fairground rides, Punch and Judy, Father Christmas and live music. The local shops were also open for the community to utilise. A marching bagpipe band processed up the High Street and there was an opportunity to sit in a Ghost Busters car.…

Pets at Home Workshop

Pets at Home Workshop

On Saturday 28th July 2018 I took my little one along to a Pets at Home Workshop. I pre-booked the workshop via the Pets at Home website. The workshop was half an hour long and free of charge. The gentleman who ran the session showed the children a rabbit first which they all took in turns to hold and after that they got to hold a guinea pig (my little ones favourite). Whilst showing the children the animals the group talked about how to look after an animal; what to feed them, what they like to drink; how to clean…

The Lego Brick Safari and Treasure Hunt at The Lexicon, Bracknell

The Lego Brick Safari and Treasure Hunt at The Lexicon, Bracknell

Yesterday 1st August 2018 saw the launch of The Lexicon's Lego Brick Safari and Treasure Hunt. A number of Lego animals have moved into the shopping centre for a few weeks during the school holidays including a giant Elephant, Lion and Crocodile. There are large animals around the shopping centre all made out of Lego bricks. We went to see them today and thought the Lego models were really impressive with the lion and elephant being our favourite. Next to each large animal there was a sign which explained how many hours it took to make each sculpture - a…
