St Andrew’s Nursery – Exciting changes for September!

St Andrew’s School is an independent co-educational day and flexi-boarding school for children aged 2-13, set amid 54 acres of beautiful Berkshire woodland and playing fields.

A wooden cabin, used as headquarters in the Nursery Woodland from which to explore the grounds, and develop those crucial life skills of communication, collaboration, problem-solving, initative, and independence, was introduced in the Summer Term.

Nursery has its own building within St Andrew’s Pre-Prep (catering for around 100 children), a stone’s throw from the Prep School across a mini zebra crossing, and next door to the multi-purpose Sports Hall and 25m indoor swimming pool.

From September 2022, St Andrew’s Nursery is accepting children who are 2 ¾ (that turn 3 that term) for full days from 8.30 – 3.30 pm, five days a week, with after school care until 5pm.

Flexible hours are an option, but children are encouraged to attend a minimum of 3 mornings a week, from 8.30 am – 12 pm, or stay for a home-cooked lunch until 1 pm.

Children learn in light, open spaces, with a tree at the centre showcasing their experiences, surrounded by their own outdoor adventure playground, with mud kitchen, giant sand pit and space for riding bikes and trikes.

As we get to know every child individually, specialist lessons in French, PE, dance, music and STEM, are introduced in the afternoons, when they’re ready.  Our low pupil to staff ratio ensures they thrive in all areas and develop the confidence to ‘have a go’.

Come rain or shine, Nursery takes daily trips to the woods. Every day is a new adventure, whether it’s balancing on logs, climbing mountains, hiding in the magic tree, swinging from branches, carrying sticks, kicking leaves, or watching the seasons change.

New for the Summer Term: a wooden cabin used as headquarters in the Nursery Woodland, from which to explore the grounds, and develop those crucial life skills of communication, collaboration, problem-solving, initiative, and independence.

After Nursery graduate to Reception and beyond, outdoor learning continues at Forest School under the watchful eye of our Forest School Teachers, under a canopied area with permanent campfire, next to the Donkey Field.

Under the expert leadership of Head of Pre-Prep, Mrs Fiona Armstrong, our enthusiastic and experienced staff, foster our Pre-Prep children’s natural curiosity and independence, which creates happy and confident little learners.

Book Now to see our Nursery Woodland and Forest School in action at our Autumn Open Morning on Friday 30 September between 9.30am - 11.30am and be taken on a tour by our Year 8 Guides.

Tree Tots Toddler Group returns for two more sessions: in the Summer on: Friday 7 October and Wednesday 16 November between 9:15-10:45am. To book your tree stump, email Kayleigh Cross, crossk@standrewspangbourne.co.uk
