Elstree is an award-winning day and boarding school for boys and girls aged 3 to 13, less than 10 miles from Newbury and Reading, and an hour from west London.
Elstree Nursery and Pre-Prep (a finalist at the Independent School of the Year Awards 2020) caters for over sixty girls and boys.
Separate from the main school, but within the same 150-acre grounds in bucolic Berkshire, the Pre-Prep is made up of four year groups – Nursery, Reception, Year 1 and Year 2.
Children have access to bright, airy classrooms, dedicated learning areas, two outdoor play spaces and a designated woodland.
Teachers and pupils take full advantage of exploring the outside space, often used as an extension of the classroom.
From Nursery, children are encouraged to adopt a love of learning and a natural curiosity at their own pace.
Every week on ‘Woodland Wednesdays’, the Early Years get the chance to do anything from mini-beast hunting, den building, foraging harvest fruits, or willow tree weaving.
Key Stage 1 are also enriched through their outdoor experiences, whether it’s lying on their back learning about perspective and drawing from a worm’s-eye view, writing stories influenced by woodland sounds, or digging up worms to feed the badgers they’ve seen on the trail cam.
Sport, French, Music and Drama are also thriving at Elstree Pre-Prep, and taught by specialist teachers.
Supported by a team of energetic, enthusiastic and experienced teachers, every child is valued as an individual and encouraged to explore and develop their talents to the full.
Parents, Grandparents and carers are welcome to join Elstree Pre-Prep’s Toddler Sessions, held four times a term between 9.00-10.30am. Email firstname.lastname@example.org for the dates.
