A new play area has opened at Bucklers Park in Crowthorne. Bucklers Park Adventure Play Area in Crowthorne is intended for children age 5 – 13+ years old. It’s set in a woodland at the corner of the new housing estate and links to Bucklers Forest which has a number of excellent walks.

What’s at the Adventure Play Area?
The Bucklers Park Adventure Play Area is seperated in to two area which are right next to one another.
The Play Glade is set in the middle of the trees. Within this area there is a wooden climbing frame complete with monkey bars, stepping logs, wobbly bridge and other obstacles. There are also two hammocks and a large rope climbing frame.
Then just outside the Play Glade you will find a double zip wire, tyre swing and hammock. Plus three picnic benches. This overlooks a wildflower area and ‘stream’ with viewing bridge.
There is also a bug house.
Is the Play Area Dog-Friendly?
The Bucklers Park Adventure Play Area play is a dog free area. Dogs can however walk in Bucklers Forest.
Are there Picnic Tables and seating?
There are three picnic tables near the play area plus logs to sit on in the play area itself.
What walks are nearby?
There are a number of different walking routes in Bucklers Forest, which is where we have suggested parking (see below). The area covers 100 acres of forest, grasslands, heathland and ponds. The site was once the former Transport Research Laboratory (TRL) and on your walk you may see some existing features of the research site including the fire tower. Walks are buggy and dog friendly. Where to park and the address
The car park is free of charge but not that large so if you visit, I would suggest going off peak if you can. The car park is also shut overnight. There are designated disabled bays in the car park. The address is Buckler’s Forest, Old Wokingham Road, Crowthorne, Berkshire, RG45 6LN.
Once parked, you need to walk out of the car park, cross the road and you will see a footpath running parallel to the main road (heading in the direction of the Pinewood Centre), walk down this path until you reach the play area. It is about a 5 minute walk but flat.
