AD – Review // Giggling Squid, Windsor

Berkshire Mummies was delighted to be invited to try out the Giggling Squid in Windsor. It was a chance for us to review the Giggling Squid’s biggest menu change to date after visiting the Wokingham restaurant back in 2018. Our meal at the Wokingham restaurant was incredible so we were excited to be invited back.

We went to the Windsor restaurant early evening, mid week and were given the chance to pick our table, the restaurant is set over a number of levels with floral decor throughout, it’s a beautiful environment next to Windsor Castle.

Whilst we were perusing the menu we enjoyed some prawn crackers, which we believe are always a must at the Giggling Squid! For our eldest (our youngest is a babe in arms) we selected two dishes from the Little Tapas for Little People menu, these were Ruby Noodles with Delicious Veggies and Grilled Pork on Skewers with Dipping Sauce. Both of these dishes came together and arrived with our starters, which saved our child waiting for food and we find helps keep the meal relaxed.

For starters we had Grilled Squid with Crisped Thai Garlic and Pork Dumplings. Both were very tasty and we ended up sharing both of the dishes, the Grilled Squid was spicier than we thought it would be but it was great to try as this is something we would not prepare at home.

For mains we actually both went for the same courses as we did at the Wokingham Giggling Squid because to be honest the Duck Confit is too good not to have again and we can’t cook a good Thai Red Curry or sticky rice at home, so like to leave it to the experts!

Then for dessert we had a children’s Caramel and Chocolate Lollipop which was a hit and eaten very quickly! We also had a scoop of Lychee Yoghurt Ice Cream and Jasmine and Toasted Rice Ice Cream. Everyone tried the ice cream and the consensus was we will need to return to the Giggling Squid for the Lychee Yoghurt Ice Cream again – it was incredible and like something we have never tasted before.

We could not fault the Giggling Squid, Windsor. The staff were excellent, helpful with our menu choices and great with our children. The food in our opinion could not be faulted and we look forward to returning soon. Our only slight frustration was there was no changing table for our littlest one but the restaurant offered a solution and are in the process of fitting a changing table.

Thank you for having us Giggling Squid, Windsor.
