Berkshire Mummies recently went for a visit to Lakeside Softplay in Datchet and had such a lovely time playing at the softplay. The softplay is for children aged 0-5 years to enjoy and the play frame is perfectly sized for that age group.

What is at Lakeside Softplay?

Lakeside Softplay is really well designed. Upon entering you will find the reception desk and cafe plus a room with tables and a reading corner which also doubles as the party room.

In the main room there is a two level play frame. There are a number of obstacles for children to navigate through, including slides, ball bit, roundabout and more. There is also an area with large building blocks and puzzles in the centre too.

In addition to the main play frame there is also a corner set up for babies with toys suitable for that age group.

Around the softplay are a number of tables and chairs, so adults can have a ‘base’, where you can easily see the softplay if you aren’t playing in it and also have somewhere to eat and drink during your session.

There is also a reading area, with books and a bean bag.

Outside there is an enclose garden with tables and a sheltered buggy park. The garden has views of the lake.

The Cafe and Food

I thought the food and drink was great quality and menu well thought through, there was a good selection of hot and cold drinks, plus cakes, paninis and sandwiches. There was also a lunchbox option for children. The lunchboxes were really well thought out for little people, presented on plastic plates, with a the crusts and skin taken off the sandwiches and cucumber plus the grapes cut in half. Ice-creams were also avaliable.

When we visited it was quite in the session after ours, so the families in the softplay were invited to stay on and play for longer if they wanted to at no extra cost – this was such a lovely gesture.

We had a fantastic time playing in the softplay and reading books when we visited. The staff were friendly and helpful, everything was clean and there was plenty to keep us busy during the 90 minute session. The food was of a high standard too.

Lakeside Softplay has been designed with parents and little ones in mind and is an excellent option for an indoor play.
