A Berkshire Mumpreneur – Sarah Reeves // Nurture Health

Tell me briefly about yourself and your family?

I am Sarah, an extremely proud first-time mum to a beautiful little boy called Elliot who is 3 years old. I am married to Lee who is also my business partner. Together we are Nurture Health.

Tell me briefly about your business?

Nurture Health specialises in Antenatal and Postnatal Exercise. We are a husband and wife team, with a wealth of experience we feel extremely passionate about helping mums-to-be and mums throughout their exercise journey. Being parents, we totally understand the barriers to exercise but where we come in is encouraging physical participation, promoting a happy and healthy lifestyle. We offer safe exercise advice to help you achieve your goals. Although there is literature out there, Nurture Health prides themselves in delivering clear guidance, educating mums on what is and what is not safe at each stage.

When did you set up your business and why?

Lee has always been involved in the leisure industry, working up to senior management, and has recently developed his qualifications further by becoming a level 4 strength and conditioning coach. I took a different path and studied criminology and psychology with the dream to work within the justice system. However, my interest for healthy living increased and I took the relevant qualifications to be where I am now. Nurture Health has been operating since 2016 after the birth of our son. The business was originally located in Surrey, but we have recently relocated to Bracknell with the drive to succeed here too.

What do you see as the benefits of being self-employed?

Balancing family life and running your own business is tough but also extremely rewarding. Advice I would give to parents contemplating whether to set up their own business is GO FOR IT! Set out a business plan, set yourself realistic targets and praise your achievements. I would also say be patient as things take time to get kick-started but persevere and reap the rewards!

What’s next for your business?

Nurture Health are releasing an e-book in 2019. It will be a guide to antenatal and postnatal exercise which you can follow in the comfort of your own home. For more information of the book release date pay attention to our website or alternatively look at our Facebook page.

Finally, what are your top three things to do as a family in Berkshire?

As a family we absolutely love what Berkshire has to offer. We particularly enjoy the forest at The Look Out Discovery Centre, from the adventure playground, to den making and playing hide and seek. We also absolutely love Beale Park in Reading and Locks Ride Recreational Ground in Winkfield Row.

*I asked Sarah if she would like to do a Q&A with Berkshire Mummies about her business. I was not asked or paid to write this post. Click here to view the Berkshire Mummies disclaimer.*
