Tell us about your role and what you enjoy about it?

I enjoy my job in marketing especially when I see the transformation of client’s homes. ‘It’s like watching Grand Design each week’. My role in marketing has evolved significantly, it’s become increasingly diverse and creative. The landscape of the industry presents a lot of learning opportunities, requiring me to adapt continuously, and to try & keep up with changing attitudes and trends. Not too different from being a mum really!

Tell us about your business?

Claire started Sherborne Windows with her husband Chris in the early 90’s, opening their first showroom in Farnborough, Hampshire which displays windows and doors. A second showroom in Windlesham followed dedicated to glazed extensions. Then another two!!

The other faces behind Sherborne are Claire’s two brother in laws – Andy and Tim Long. With their combined expertise and dedication Sherborne has grown to become a trusted name in the industry delivering quality craftsmanship and exceptional customer service to homes across the region. Claire said ‘We’re more than just a business – we’re a family’. In recent years Claire has been instrumental in the opening of a 3rd & 4th showroom in Hartley Wintney & Sunningdale dedicated to a range of Timber windows and doors. Many properties in these areas are situated within conservation areas. The range offers a perfect solution to some of the obstacles homeowners face when wanting to replace windows and doors in period properties.

Any top tips for a successful working relationship?

Claire and Chris have worked together for many years and it can be quite demanding. People often ask ‘how do you do it?’ – Claire says ‘we recognise each other’s strengths and appreciate it’s a team effort’. I enjoy my job especially when I see the transformation of client’s homes. Even a front door can make a real statement. In true family style two of Claire’s three children have now joined the family business. Molly has worked in the installation department since returning from Cardiff University and Alex recently started his training in sales and design.

Tell us about your family life?

With third child Daisy busy with her GCSE’s, it’s a bustling household. With Chris all five live together in Hartley Wintney with & not forgetting Dotty the dog, a labradoddle who is adorable and 6 years old. We all like to make time to unwind and it’s important with busy lives to stop and breath, that’s why we love family dog walks. With some many fantastic places in Berkshire there’s always somewhere new to explore.
