Pioneer Play Park is a brand new playground which is now open at Buckler’s Park in Crowthorne. Nearby there is also a woodland adventure play area and a good selection of walks at Buckler’s Forest. Thanks to Macgregor Smith Landscapes for letting Berkshire Mummies know this play area is now open to the public.

What’s in the new Pioneer Play playground?
The play space celebrates the principles of natural water attenuation adopted across the wider Buckler’s Park site and there is a 70m long playable swale meandering through the playground as it travels towards one of the main stormwater ponds in Buckler’s Park.
There is an area for toddlers and younger children which has a slide, climbing area and sandpit.
Then in the rest of the playground you will find a range of swings, climbing frames, a roundabout, open space and a large slide.
There are also a couple of bridges around the play area for children to explore, plus a couple of picnic benches within the play area.
Shade and planting
In the Pioneer Play Park over half of the area is planted with lawns, wildflowers and a biodiverse mix of sensory plants and over 80 new trees which aim to provide structure and share around the play area.
The Community Hub and Cafe
There is a new Community Hub and Cafe next to the play area (this isn’t open just yet).

Where to park the car?
There is a small public car park at Buckler’s Forest which is shut overnight. There are designated disabled bays in the car park. The address is Buckler’s Forest, Old Wokingham Road, Crowthorne, Berkshire, RG45 6LN. You can walk to Pioneer Play from this car park.
