What did we do there?
We recently had the most amazing day watching the Royal Windsor Cup Final at Guards Polo Club in Windsor. From Blacknest Gate, we drove up to Guards Polo Club through Windsor Great Park which was an incredibly impressive way to start our day out.
We watched the Royal Windsor Cup Final (the semi finals took place in the morning). Polo is a great game to watch – it goes at pace but you can pick it up quite easily. The Duchess of Edinburgh presented the winner with the cup.
You get the chance to dress up and there is a lovely relaxed and friendly atmosphere. There was plenty to see and do, in addition to the polo throughout the day. You get the chance to go divot stomping on the polo pitch which the children absolutely loved and you can see the horses pre-match too.
There was entertainment put on throughout the day during our visit included the Guards playing music and marching on Smiths Lawn at set intervals.
Plus the Knights also demonstrated their riding skills and the Carriage Driving Society concluded the day with a procession of carriages.
There was a little play area for the children to enjoy.
There was a bar and BBQ for refreshments, plus plenty of seating. Alternatively, you could take your own food and drink and picnic by your car.
There is also shop, selling everything polo-related where you could treat yourself to a memory of your day.
We had a fabulous day and adored the atmosphere at Guards Polo Club. Children and dogs are both very welcome and it’s a wonderful place to go for a special day out where you get chance to dress up and enjoy a quintessential English summers day out.
