Here are some date day ideas for Berkshire – places where you can spend a few hours with your partner whilst the children are at school.

Date Day Ideas in Berkshire
Head to a Spa – many local spas offer short stay packages (3hrs, which sometimes includes a meal) so you can take some time to relax and still be home in time for school pick up! You can read our list of Berkshire-based spas here.
Go out for Breakfast or Brunch – We are spoilt for choice with restaurants, bars and cafes in Berkshire and so many of them offer delicious breakfasts which would make the perfect start for any date day! You can take a look through our suggestions of where to head for Breakfast in Berkshire here.
Go for a Walk – Take a stroll together around one of the many walking paths/sites in Berkshire. You could combine with either a breakfast or lunch before heading back to school. We have been on so many walks in the area which you can find here.
It’s hard to highlight our favourites but we love walking at Virginia Water Lake no matter what the season and the Punch Bowl in Valley Gardens is a particular highlight in the Spring.
Ascot Heath is also lovely with fantastic views of the racecourse and grandstands.
Another lovely place to walk around is Donnington Castle where you can also walk to Snelsmore Common.
If you’re head out during the colder months then here are some walks which include somewhere to get a hot drink along the way.
Visit Windsor – Windsor is one of our favourite places to visit and there are so many different things to do there from the castle, carriage tours and the changing of the guard to the Long Walk, restaurants and shopping.
Head out on the River – you could hire a boat, go on a canal boat trip, go paddle boarding or jump on a river cruise. Here are some ideas.
Visit a National Trust Site – We like to visit Cliveden and Basildon Park.
Visit Feathers and Fur Falconry Centre – Based in Moss End Garden Centre in Bracknell this is a lovely place to spend a few hours and they offer different experiences to try. You can find out more on their website.
Visit a Museum – There are plenty of different museums to visit in Berkshire (many of which are free to enter) depending on your interests. You can view a list of options here.
Have a round of golf or visit a driving range – Golf plex in Binfield have a driving range plus a cafe for refreshments and Wokingham Family Golf has several different offerings to try out including a driving range.
Visit Go Ape – If you’re looking for something a bit more adventurous you could try a local Go Ape venue. You can find one in Bracknell and another in Slough – as well as the tree top climbing they also offer Segways and axe throwing.

Go out for a meal – Whether you are looking for a pub lunch, farmshop, a cafe or a restaurant you will find plenty of options to choose from here.

Go to the Theatre – The Theatre Royal in Windsor, South Hill Park in Bracknell and Norden Farm in Maidenhead are three of our favourites to visit.
Go for a Picnic – if the weather’s nice why not head somewhere local for a picnic. You can view a list of places here which all make for a lovely place to take a picnic.
Stanlake Park – This wine estate based in Twyford offer wine and cheese tours and tastings. You can find out more on their website.
Spend the day in Henley-on-Thames – A lovely, picturesque town on the river with lots of walks and restaurants to offer.
Spend the day in Marlow – you could visit the museum, have lunch, take a stroll along the river or take a picnic. Here are some free things to do in Marlow.

Head out for Shopping and Lunch – There are lots of different shopping centres in and around Berkshire to choose from including; The Lexicon in Bracknell, The Oracle in Reading, Eden Shopping Centre in High Wycombe, Festival Place in Basingstoke, The Friary in Guildford and Parkway Shopping in Newbury.
