Easter Weekend Family Walks

Hurley Riverside, Hurley
Hurley Riverside is perhaps one of the most picturesque places we have found to walk in Berkshire. You can walk along the tow path and enjoy watching Hurley Lock in action.
Snelsmore Common, Newbury
Walking at Snelsmore Common has lots of different walking route options and is made up of a range of habitats which include woodlands, wet mires and heathland. You might even spot the Exmoor and New Forest ponies if you are lucky.
Walking at Dorney Wetlands, Dorney
Here you explore The Jubilee River which runs from Maidenhead to Windsor. There is some wonderful wildlife to spot during this flat walk.
Hungerford Wharf, Hungerford
Hungerford Wharf is a lovely walk which incorporates walking in Hungerford and along the canal.
Woodland Walk at The Pinewood Centre, Wokingham Without
There is a great woodland to explore at The Pinewood Centre in Wokingham Without. There are also wooden sculptures to discover during your walk, plus to great play areas.
Boulters Lock and Ray Mill Island, Maidenhead
Boulters Lock and Ray Mill Island make for a gentle walk, but there is lots to see including the boats going through the lock and Boulters Weir. You can also feed the birds, play in the small play area and find the wooden sculptures and wobbly bridge dotted around the island.
A circular walk at Ankerwycke
Why not enjoy a walk at Ankerwycke? This walk is steeped in history – during the walk you can visit the Ankerwycke Yew, a 2,500 year old tree. Make sure you take wellies as this walk may be muddy.
Buckler’s Forest, Crowthorne
The walks at Buckler’s Forest covers 100 acres of forest, grasslands, heathland and ponds. The site was once the former Transport Research Laboratory (TRL) and on your walk you may see some existing features of the research site including the fire tower.
Lightwater Country Park, Surrey
Lightwater Country Park is a lovely place to walk, with walks through woodlands, heathland and around ponds to explore. There is a good sized play area and also cafe too.
Walking at Hindhead Common and The Devil’s Punch Bowl, Surrey
Hindhead Common and The Devil’s Punch Bowl is an impressive place to walk, with great views of the ‘punch bowl’ plus a number of walking route to pick from. There is a cafe next to the car park and also wooden logs, stepping stones etc to climb for the children.
The Copper Horse – Long Walk, Windsor Great Park
Walk along the Long Walk in Windsor and enjoy views of Windsor Castle, Windsor Great Park and The Copper Horse.
The Green Man Sculpture Trail, Bracknell
Find the Green Man Sculptures around Tarman’s Copes at Jennett’s Park in Bracknell.
Simon’s Wood in Finchampstead
Walk through the woodland in Simon’s Wood and why not walk around the large pond you will find in the middle of the woodland?
Bath Islands to Windsor Bridge in Windsor
Enjoy a walk along the River in Windsor taking in views of Windsor Castle.
