10 Family Friendly Things to do in Newbury
1. Visit the Corn Exchange – This venue hosts a variety of shows, films and events. To see what’s showing please click here.
2. Play in Victoria Park – the park can be found next to the Kennet and Avon Canal and just near Parkway Shopping. There is plenty of open green space plus a boating pond and a large skate park. You will also find a good sized play area in the park with two giant helter-skelter slides, an obstacle course, swings for toddlers and older children, zip wire, see-saw, roundabout, small climbing frame and slide and more. 3. Go on a Canal Boat trip on the Jubilee – The Kennet and Avon Canal Trust run boat trips on the Jubilee along the canal. They host several themed trips which are perfect for children. You can find out more here.

4. Visit Donnington Castle and Donnington Play Area – The remains of Donnington Castle sit proudly on the top of a hill in Donnington which allows for great views of the Lambourn Valley. It can be found near Newbury and is a great picnic spot. You can read about our visit here. 5. Play Adventure Golf – Newbury Adventure Golf has an 18-hole wildlife themed adventure golf course which is packed with a range of fantastic obstacles and traditional features. You can find the adventure golf at Victoria Park. You can book here.
6. Visit Newbury Racecourse – There are plenty of race days throughout the year which you can find out more about here.
7. Walk along the Kennet and Avon Canal – The Kennet and Avon Canal meanders through Newbury and makes for a lovely scenic walk. There is a path which runs alongside it and there are plenty of boats and wildlife to spot along the way.

8. Visit Shaw House – Shaw House can be found on the edge of Newbury. They hold lots of children’s events such as family activity days and an outdoor theatre, throughout the year so it’s worth checking the website here to find out what’s on.
9. Visit The Ugly Duckling Pottery Painting – They can be found on Newbury High Street. They also serve a selection of hot and cold drinks which you can enjoy whilst you paint. You can visit the website to find out more here.

11. West Berkshire Musuem is free to visit and is split over two floors, on the ground floor you will find a cafe and gift shop plus the welcome desk. Click here to find out more about the museum.
